A scrolling pillar CNC (often referred to as a "moving column" or "traveling column" design) is a sophisticated alternative to the traditional moving-table C-frame CNC. In this setup, the workpiece remains stationary on a fixed bed, while the entire vertical column assembly moves along the X-axis.
This design is particularly favored for machining exceptionally heavy or long parts that would be impractical to move back and forth at high speeds.
