Scrollwork: Flowing, graceful curves and spirals that fill space and add an elegant, ornate feel.
A common way to combine these is to have a zigzagging ribbon or band as the core border, with hearts placed at the peaks and valleys. The scrollwork is then used to fill the negative space around the hearts and the zigzag line, connecting everything into a cohesive whole.
